The price of bananas, chicken, sugar, cooking oil, gas, and cigarettes increased, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), even though week-over-week inflation marginally decreased.
Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) data shows that as a consequence, short-term inflation increased from 38.42 percent the week before to 41.54 percent for the week ending on February 23.
For the lowest income group, gas costs increased by 108.4 percent, cigarette prices rose by 76.45 percent, and the price of bananas increased by 76.45 percent week over week.
